Tri-County Black Nurses Association (TCBNA) is a public service non-profit community based organization that serves all persons without regard to race, creed, or color. Members perform voluntary public health screenings, health education and evaluations, and referrals to local health care providers. We are a catalyst for change and have made a significant impact on the health needs of the community and surrounding areas. Since its inception, TCBNA has screened thousands for high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, etc., and has hosted/participated in hundreds of community health fairs.
TCBNA is an affiliate of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA), the national headquarters located in Silver Springs, Maryland. Based in Charleston, TCBNA was the first chapter organized within the state of South Carolina and currently is the only existing chapter in the state. Mission
The mission of Tri-County Black Nurses Association is to provide a forum for collective action by African-American nurses to investigate, define and determine what the health care needs of African-Americans are and to implement change to make available to African-Americans and other minorities, health care commensurate with that of the larger society. |
