Tri-County Black Nurses Association
Who We Are

An affiliate of the National Black Nurses Association, Inc. and one of 79 chapters in the United States and Virgin Islands, our chapter is comprised of nurses of various levels and specialty areas:

  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN),
  • Registered Nurses (RN),
  • Nurse Practitioners, and
  • Nursing students.

Our members have completed associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees and we currently have three members completing PhD's.

  • We are a group of professionals who share a desire in rallying to the challenge of helping eliminate health disparities in our communities at large.
  • We are nurses who support the efforts of one another in their many challenges to their level of professional growth, development, and excellence.
  • We are active in our community.
What We Do
  • Serve as mentors for nursing students;
  • Provide a yearly monetary scholarship for a deserving nursing student;
  • Provide health education to the community at large;
  • Sponsor/conduct health fairs in an effort to screen for disease and chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesteremia, etc.;
  • Sponsor yearly diabetes conference for health care providers and members of the community at large with expert providers/practitioners from across the state delivering updated information for our practices;
  • Attend yearly conferences sponsored by the National Black Nurses Association to optimize our continuing education and enhancement of our professional development;
  • Collaborate with other organizations to increase the scope of health care services to underserved populations; and
  • Collaborate with NBNA in offering career advancement, continuing education, and research and publishing opportunitites.
